Zette Harbour
About (Biography)

Born in Albany, New York, Zette's family relocated to the tiny town of Burton, Ohio when she was very young.  It was there, on their 5 acre, woodsy home, that Zette's love of story began to blossom.  Lots of time exploring woods, sliding down the frozen creek falls and books.... lots and lots of books.

*

As a young woman, she discovered that telling folktales from around the world to people young and old brought joy to her and to her audiences.

*

Zette has taught storytelling workshops for adults and children through Cal Poly Extending Education and Cuesta College for Kids.  She has led seminars on the seeking and finding of Story Wisdom and created programs for youth-at-risk and for such events as Women's History Day.

*

Her performances have been aired on National Public Radio's, The Story Tree and on KCBX FM 90.1 and KVEC AM 920.

*

Zette currently has one recording, Woman of the Sea and other stories, with more in the works.  Her self-produced, solo performance, Full Moon Stories & Beach Walk, was reviewed by the National Endowment for the Arts, September 9, 1995.

"Dear Zette,

     Thank you for a great presentation.  My class enjoyed your stories greatly and were able to verbalize what you did well - volume, pacing, hand gestures, etc.  And your scary elements were to exactly the right degree of Halloween atmosphere!"

"Dear Zette;

     I'd like to thank you for sharing such wonderful stories.  Children and adults alike were spellbound."

"Dear Zette,

Hi.  I really liked how you made different voices for different things.  My favorite voice was the frog's.  My favorite story you told us was The 7 Brothers.  I would really like you to come again.

Your friend,"
